Course Description:

Introducing students to the field of aquaculture with an emphasis on cultivation methods, examples from the students country of origin and the potential benefits as well as threats associated with onshore and offshore aquaculture operations.

Course Objectives:

This course focuses on marine farming issues, emphasizing will be placed on some of the more practical aspects of aquaculture and fisheries by experts in the field.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

• Understand aquaculture production systems and the main issues associated with aquaculture production

• know specific issues  and methods associated with culturing finfish and crustaceans

• Identified drivers of problems associated with conventional fisheries


During the course students will make a tour in a few different types of aquaculture farms: 1) Commercial ornamental intensive fish farm. 2) Extreme crocodile touristic and commercial farm. 3) R&D public aquaculture farm located in Arava R&D "Yair" station 4) Amorfical- a commercial farm for blue-crabs based  food supplements
